I was in Bath for a lazy afternoon and in the mood for something light and healthy. So, what better than The Green Rocket Cafe in Bath - a predominantly vegan and vegetarian eatery.
A quick peek at the menu, an eclectic and international mix of falafel, noodles, curry, mezze, sandwiches and salads, and we were ready.
Their signature Green Rocket juice made from apple, cucumber, broccoli, celery, parsley and spirulina was light and refreshing yet wholesome. I'm not madly in love with parsley but it was a very delicate background flavour and the apple and celery provided enough sweetness to balance the juice
Next up was the courgette 'spaghetti' salad served with a zingy yet sweet salsa romanesco, peppers and sundried tomatoes, almonds and lemon, and all topped with a regal garnish of fresh basil. The salad was perfectly balanced and refreshing but still had a complex and rich flavour - delicious!
We also ordered a warm salad of roasted maple and thyme vegetables nestled on a bed of quinoa and leaves with either marinated tofu or halloumi. The roasted vegetables were much more simple, and my lunch date was rather envious of my bowl of courgetti. However, the marinade was perfect and the root vegetables were wholesome and inviting.
All in all a light and healthy lunch.
